Prepaid Gift Card Clarification - Guild Wars Forums

After some recent troubles myself I was thinking there should be some more easily available clarification on what gift cards will or will not work with the Guild Wars ingame store.

From my personal experiances I can tell any potential store customers thinking of getting a Gift Card, avoid the Vanilla Visa Gift Card and here is why, direct from NCSoft Support:

"Generally speaking, we can accept prepaid/gift credit cards provided that they have a verifiable billing address and can accept a recurring billing charge (automatic billing). If the card you're trying to use meets both of these requirements then it can be used for online serial code purchases and game account subscription fees/charges."

So be warned, you CAN use a gift card, you just need to make sure it has the ability to accept a recurring billing charge.

I was thinking it would be nice if some of the community who have experiance with the use of such cards could come together and list the exact types of cards used, if they work or not in the store, and where you can purchase them, so that we are able to cobble together a resource topic to help others avoid the misfortunes some of us may have already suffered.

I've asked Gaile if it were possible to get this more into the public from Arenanet's side as I believe this will help business as well as customers, so it is a win-win situation.

I'll start off with listing the Vanilla Visa Gift card, it comes in $25, $50, and $100 spending limits and does not accept recurring billing charges, and was purchased at a Walgreens (a drug store in the US for anyone unaware), so if you plan to use the GW ingame store make sure to avoid this card, if you however plan to shop online elsewhere it is accepted in other places such as EBGames for example.

i have been doing a bit of research and i haven't found any "gift card" master or visa....that has a recurring billing charge....i think that NCsoft is just giving us the run around.

It also seems silly for the GuildWars online store to require a card that accepts recurring billing when there aren't any recurring charges. Obviously just a hold over from the NCSoft store but they really should remove that requirement from the gw online store.
